J.P. Morgan wasn’t always an influential multinational banking institution. It all started with an influential multi-millionaire who some say ran the country. Like they say, behind every powerful man is a powerful woman; enter the most important person in New York, our main character. At twenty she starts working for the guy who is definitely not the most important person in New York gathering priceless manuscripts, books, and artwork, living the lavish life of society while hiding the most terrible of secrets. She is not White. She is free, she is powerful, she is Black, and there is nothing she won’t do to keep her elite status in early 1900s New York and her Marriott Titanium status (maybe not that one).
